ASD supports the Joint Effects Model (JEM) program at APG by providing Integration of Research and Development (R&D) software into cloud-ready frameworks for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) PMO.

Software Development and Infrastructure Modernization

ASD provides a multitude of software development and infrastructure modernization services for our Department of State customer, on various classified programs.

PersMod Program

ASD’s efforts under the PersMod program encompasses support, sustainment, upgrades, and modernization of personnel systems under the Navy’s Integrated Personnel and Pay System (IPPS) strategy. The Personnel and Modernization (PersMod) effort is to enable sailor self-service and automation of high volume, routine transactions, to enable legacy system consolidation, and develop interoperable capabilities, which can be leveraged across the portfolio of Navy personnel systems.

California Department of Motor Vehicles

ASD has had multiple projects with the CA Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and continues to grow its footprint within the state agency. ASD has provided Oracle upgrades, software maintenance and support, help desk and application design, development and integration. Some of the services offered are described below.
ASD designed the DMV’s Settlement Processing System, created code Logic Documentation, built the application(s) and is conducting Unit, Systems, Integration Testing, and performing quality control testing to ensure the finished applications and code modifications to existing systems are migrated without incident and perform as expected the first time.

ASD provided quality support to the DMV in the operations, maintenance, management, evolution, and documentation of the DMV’s Oracle Administrative and Financial System (AFS). In this role, the consultants ensured continued successful operations of the present set of applications while managing, implementing and installing the new and improved suite of tools. This included, but not limited to, subject matter expertise and transfer of knowledge to DMV business analysts and application specialists.

California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA)

ASD is currently supporting California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) through the development and deployment of a solution that leverages mobile tablet computers to ensure food safety. The solution is built around the Trimble Yuma Rugged Tablet Computer which utilizes Windows 7 and a web-based portal interface. The solution allows field agents to remotely record sample data at various farms, processing plants, retail stores and other industries. The data is automatically synchronized with the Emerging Threats Data Management System when the agents return to the laboratory facility.

ASD’s solution improves CDFA’s capacity to manage the surge of information required to respond in time to incidents of natural or intentional contamination of dairy food products. The web portal solution facilitates CDFA’s emergency response that may require coordination with other agencies such as the CDFA Division of Inspection Services Feed, Fertilizer, Livestock Drug, Egg Regulatory Services (FFLDERS), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), United States Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

State of Maryland ePortal

ASD was approached by the CIO of the State of Maryland and tasked with creating an innovative, most user-friendly state portal in the US – an ePortal that would provide an advanced e-business environment for Internet-based community services, consumer transactions, citizen involvement, value chain interactions and legislative processes.
ASD created the eMaryland portal as an attractive, easy to use, web-based portal designed to enable the State of Maryland to better service the public – a single Internet gateway for citizens, employees, business, and organizations to easily access the services, resources, and information of state government. ASD achieved results beyond expected portal functionality, providing the additional dimensions of knowledge management; a personalized section with search agents; the ability to notify users via email when new information is detected; and Internet Call Center as well as the ability to access the web site via a voice browser. The eMaryland portal features simple, clean design, and intuitive interface coupled with easy navigation.

DIR Division of Worker’s Compensation

ASD is providing database and data-warehouse enhancement programming for the DIR Division of Worker’s Compensation (DWC) Workers’ Compensation Information Systems (WCIS). ASD’s scope includes design and analysis of the changed WCIS medical system resulting from the acceptance of the 5010 format and ICD-10 codes. ASD will continue through programming, testing, and validation of the new system to ensure that it meets DIR’s requirements.

ASD supports the FDA’s CTP Budget and Acquisition System (CBAS) Development, Modernization, and Enhancements efforts, including the full range of O&M support services including issue identification, tracking, analysis, and resolution; code generation, testing, COTS customization and configuration; and documentation; change incorporation; maintenance of tools, custom code, specialized configurations, customizations and process automation such as scripts, templates, and workflows; performance tuning and monitoring; system administration, and user account administration.

Air Force Enterprise Purchase Request Process System

ASD is currently providing functional and development support to the Air Force Enterprise Purchase Request Process System (PRPS) Initiative. PRPS focuses on replacing the logistics portion of Air Force legacy systems supporting the Business Supply Area. PRPS will automate the front-end of the acquisition process and bridge the requirement to Contracting. The process begins with the receipt of spares and repair requirements and proceeds through creation of a technical data package, generation of electronic Purchase Requests (PRs), Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs), attachments, interface for funds approval and transition of the PRs/MIPRs to the buying activity.

Air Force Process Engineering Support

ASD has significant experience directly relevant to facilitating Air Force process engineering efforts using best practices through the CSWS-DE Project (Contractor Supported Weapon System Data Exchange). The CSWS DE (D375) is the bridge for peculiar spares data (reparable and consumable) that passes between Contractor data systems and Government legacy data systems while the Contractor is managing the Air Force owned spares, and is serving as the Contractor-Inventory Control Point (C-ICP) for the weapon system.

ASD has provided subject matter expertise and technical knowledge to assist with ASETT Integration to the CMS Enterprise Portal, including the development of the front end, to meet Section 508 compliance rules. On this initiative, ASD successfully designed and developed custom portal components; performed integration activities with application teams; and analyzed performance metrics and estimated future capacity requirements for the systems and associated portal.

California Correctional Health Care Services

ASD assisted California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) staff in providing design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, support, and knowledge transfer activities to convert legacy IDTD applications and related systems to a new IDTD web application using MS ASP.NET, WCF, and SQL Server technologies.

The Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) has been using OTIS, a recently-developed web-based, spatially-enabled, automated database system. OTIS is a GIS-enabled (for historical resource inventory data only) process tracking and historical resource inventory management system, hosted within Parks’ IT infrastructure. ASD is currently assisting OHP to maintain, design and develop functions to this existing web-based, spatially-enabled, automated database system. The overall objective for ASD is to provide a working solution, which will meet the OHP’s needs for enhanced functions of OTIS.

ASD is currently providing development and maintenance support to CMS’ systems DESY and DADDS. ASD personnel are tasked with System Maintenance activities via engineering, design, development, and test; performing design related tasks, assisting with the deployment to production environment; and testing production patches and upgrades.
