Advanced Software Design Inc. (ASD) has been awarded Data Extract System (DESY) Data Access & Data Shipping System (DADSS) contract by Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) to support Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) information systems.
Under the contract, ASD will provide engineering and development services to support the changing needs of the CMS client that include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Data Extract System (DESY) for data retrieval from CMS’ major detail data stores to replace its legacy and pre-2000 data access systems. DESY provides access to data that resides in several different storage media, with different formats, using many different data structures, and across multiple platforms. The DADSS system implemented in April 2006 is a replacement for the FT APE system which was established in 1991 from a directive issued by the General Accounting Office and the CMS administrator to develop data use procedures to ensure that all data authorized for use conform to the confidentiality requirements of the Privacy Act and to accurately track those releases. The DADSS system also currently interfaces with DESY. DESY accesses DADSS for user data access authority information contained in a user’s DUA.
